National Coding Week 2025: Shining a Light on AI
Next week, 15th to 21st September, marks the start of National Coding Week 2025, with the theme of 'AI' taking centre stage.
A technology that’s not only transforming how we code and build software today, but also opening exciting new opportunities for the next generation of developers.
What's the Purpose of National Coding Week?
National Coding Week is a nationwide initiative designed to shine a light on the importance of digital skills, particularly in coding, and encourage people of all ages to explore the opportunities a career in tech can offer. It’s about sharing knowledge, inspiring future developers, and celebrating the creativity and problem-solving that sit at the heart of coding.
At Sequel, we’ve seen first-hand just how vital these opportunities are. Our developer Rob initially joined us with minimal industry experience but showcasing a clear passion and enthusiasm for code. With the right guidance and support, he has now progressed from a junior role into a thriving developer with a multitude of skills, building custom software platforms that are transforming business operations for our clients.
This focus on nurturing new talent extends beyond our team too — earlier this year our Managing Director, Pip, took part in a pilot programme for a Centralised Work Experience initiative, delivering talks for schools alongside other business leaders, helping to inspire students to consider coding and digital careers. Initiatives like these show why National Coding Week matters: by investing in the next generation now, we build a stronger digital industry for tomorrow.

This Year’s Theme: AI
Each year, National Coding Week spotlights a particular theme. For 2025 the focus is on Artificial Intelligence (AI) — a subject that’s reshaping not just how we code, but how businesses operate every day. AI is no longer a futuristic concept; it’s embedded into tools, platforms, and processes that many organisations already rely on.
Over the course of next week, we’ll be exploring AI from both a business and developer perspective — diving into its impact, opportunities, and what it means for the future of digital. We’ll also share some tips from our developers to give you a behind-the-scenes perspective into how AI is shaping our work.
Join Us Across the Week
Here’s a taste of what we’ll be sharing throughout National Coding Week:
